Burgundy is Pinot Noir’s most famous home, but it’s not the only place in France where the grape grows well. The cooler vineyards of the Vin Pays d’Oc in the south, are another; ripening the grapes reliably in the Mediterranean sun and yielding delicious, fruit-forward wines. The Bouchard Ainé shows what the region’s Pinot Noir is all about, with lots of red cherry, soft plum and raspberry notes. Medium-bodied, it’s smooth, with soft tannins.
